Los Angeles Wildfires Response
The Los Angeles wildfires became the most destructive in the city’s history, destroying more than 15,000 structures and claiming at least 28 lives during the Eaton and Palisades fires. ShelterBox USA supported relief efforts in partnership with Rotary Districts 5280 and 5300, standing with families who lost their homes and livelihoods.
To help families through long power outages and uncertain nights, ShelterBox USA provided hundreds of LuminAID solar lights and lantern-phone chargers, along with additional solar lighting. These were shared at the Pasadena Convention Center evacuation shelter and throughout Altadena, where entire neighborhoods were forced to evacuate, and thousands of homes and businesses were lost. We also delivered hundreds of blankets so families could stay warm, dozens of bags to carry the belongings they were able to save, children’s activity kits to offer moments of comfort and normalcy, face masks for protection from smoke and debris, and cook sets so people could prepare simple meals wherever they were staying.
As smoke and ash continued to affect air quality, ShelterBox USA partnered with Intellipure to distribute 1,000 air purifiers to households in need. Additional everyday essentials, including comforters, dinnerware, towels, and pillows, helped families begin to settle into temporary living spaces with greater dignity and stability. ShelterBox USA also committed a $100,000 matching grant to Rotary Districts 5280 and 5300, strengthening local recovery efforts and helping communities address urgent shelter and household needs as they moved from immediate response toward rebuilding.

Hurricanes Helene and Milton Response
Hurricanes Helene and Milton caused widespread devastation across Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. Tens of thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed, entire communities were displaced, and prolonged power outages left families without heat, clean water, or the ability to safely remain in their homes. With the death toll surpassing 200, Helene became one of the deadliest hurricanes to strike the United States in the last 50 years.
In the weeks that followed, local responders faced urgent needs for emergency shelter, clean water, and essential household supplies. Rotary International Zones 33 and 34 mobilized a crisis management team in District 7670 to assess conditions on the ground and coordinate relief efforts across the hardest-hit communities. Alongside these efforts, hundreds of critical aid items were distributed across North Carolina, including solar lights and chargers, water filtration systems, cold-weather sleeping bags, tents, and warm bedding to help families navigate extended outages and unsafe living conditions.
To strengthen this response, ShelterBox USA committed a $100,000 matching grant to the Rotary Zones 33 and 34 Disaster Recovery Fund. This funding enabled Rotary teams to deliver critical aid, including water, emergency shelter materials, and hygiene kits, helping families stabilize and take their first steps toward recovery.
