ShelterBox Announces New Partnership with Protect Your Assets Inventory Software to Support Global Disaster Relief
January 19 – ShelterBox USA is proud to announce a new, ongoing fundraising partnership with Protect Your Assets Inventory Software (PYAIS), a leading home and business asset‑inventory platform dedicated to disaster preparedness. Beginning January 19, proceeds from all PYAIS software sales will be donated directly to ShelterBox, supporting emergency shelter and essential aid for families displaced by disaster and conflict around the world.
This partnership is rooted in lived experience. PYAIS founder Sherry Hood understands firsthand the devastation disasters leave behind. “Our beach home on Crystal Beach was destroyed by Hurricane Ike in 2008,” Sherry recalls. “There was nothing left but the concrete slab and broken pilings. We know all too well what it is like to experience the devastation of property and insurance loss claims. Because our home had been fully documented using our software, our insurance settlement was processed promptly, allowing us to rebuild in weeks while many waited months or even years. That experience reaffirmed why this software matters.”
Sherry’s commitment to preparedness began long before hurricanes, wildfires, and extreme weather events became national headlines. Living in Houston’s Memorial area, where theft was rising and home security systems were not yet common, she began documenting her home and belongings for protection and peace of mind. When she and her family later purchased a home in wildfire‑prone central Texas, the need for a comprehensive inventory solution became even clearer.
Unable to find a program that met both personal and business needs, Sherry and her team created Protect Your Assets Inventory Software, launching in 2005, the same year Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf Coast. Since then, PYAIS has grown into a premier, industry‑leading software product used by homeowners and small businesses nationwide. The company has been represented by more than 60 major retailers, including Costco, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Office Max, and Barnes & Noble, and has continued to innovate with the release of its cloud‑based application in 2020.
PYAIS has also built a long history of giving back. The company has donated more than 24,000 free software downloads to disaster survivors across the United States, helping thousands navigate insurance claims and IRS documentation after catastrophic loss.
Sherry says the decision to partner with ShelterBox was a natural extension of that mission. “We chose to partner with ShelterBox because of their commitment and response to disasters worldwide,” she explains. “World disasters are on the rise, and we are confident that we can assist ShelterBox in achieving their goals.”
