Debut sale features beloved Santa Barbara landmark and rare folk-art gems

Santa Barbara, CA – ShelterBox USA is joining Miss Daisy’s Consignment and Auction House’s innovative “Consign for a Cause” program, which allows donors to support their favorite charities and receive a tax write-off.

The debut sale features a spectacular, wall-spanning painting of Joe’s Café that launches ShelterBox USA into this charitable initiative.

Acclaimed Santa Barbara artist Brad Nack created the five-feet-wide by four-feet-tall oil painting in the mid-1990s, using a smile-inducing mix of color and texture.

“Joe’s is an iconic and historic meeting place where Santa Barbara locals have hung out and enjoyed great times for decades,” said Nack. “I’m happy that my painting supports ShelterBox, because their team members are out there helping people who are not doing as well as we are.”

Also available are two one-of-a-kind works: a House of Blues style mirror constructed, painted, and adorned by folk artist Jon Bok, and a sculpted angel by LeRoy Almon, whose work has hung in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

The Joe’s Café painting is open for bidding, which will close on December 7. The Bok mirror and Almon angel are available for immediate purchase. The mirror measures 23 inches high, 24 inches wide, and three and a half inches deep, and is signed on the back.

“Miss Daisy’s Consign for a Cause program gives back to the community by supporting local charities,” said Miss Daisy’s owner Glenn Novack. “We’re proud to add ShelterBox, whose mission reflects our commitment to community service especially during these challenging times for nonprofits.”

Miss Daisy’s Consignment & Auction House focuses on high quality furniture, fine art, and décor, so no wine-stained couches or paint-by-numbers jobs of the owl with googly eyes.
