ShelterBox USA raised more than $250,000 at the fifth annual event, “An Evening to Experience ShelterBox.”
More than 200 do gooders from all over the America took in a spectacular sunset and heartwarming stories at the ShelterBox USA Evening to Experience benefit on Thursday, September 7th.
Attendees at the UC investments campus, the former QAD campus, heard how ShelterBox is currently providing emergency shelter and vital humanitarian aid in some of the world’s worst disaster and conflict zones, including Ukraine, Chad Syria, Pakistan and more.
Shelterbox currently has an assessment team deployed to Morocco to see how the relief organization can help after the devastating earthquake, which displaced tens of thousands last Friday. The host for the evening was News Director Lance Orosco from KCLU radio, NPR on the Central Coast.
Awards recipients:
Helga Morris longtime volunteer supporter who was also a Refugee as a child. Morris received the 2023 humanitarian impact award from ShelterBox. The community partner award for 2023 was awarded to UC Investments.
The evening to experience ShelterBox raised over $250,000 for the organization’s emergency shelter projects. Notable supporters included Martin Gore, who recently returned home for a mini break from his worldwide tour with Depeche Mode, his wife, Kerrilee Gore, and son, Calo Gore. Also attending Marla Phillips, Peter & Talia Melnick, Rand Rosenberg, and his wife, Taran Davis.
