CLAREMONT, Calif. – ShelterBox USA, a global humanitarian disaster and conflict relief organization, today welcomed Claremont resident Parker Emerson to its Hall of Fame after years of service, including raising more than $100,000.

For more than 20 years, ShelterBox has provided shelter and other essential items to the most vulnerable forced from their homes by disaster and conflict. It is currently responding to the crisis in Ukraine, setting up multiple relief programs both inside and outside Ukraine to help the more than 3 million refugees who have fled Ukraine, and the millions who remain internally displaced within the country.

Emerson is one of more than 300 ShelterBox ambassadors, volunteers across the country who represent the organization and fundraise for it. Raising $100,000 qualifies an ambassador to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He’s the 43rd ambassador to reach that milestone.

“I am thrilled to welcome Parker into the Ambassador Hall of Fame,” said ShelterBox USA President Kerri Murray. “Parker’s unwavering commitment to ShelterBox and its mission has helped thousands of people displaced by disaster and conflict receive emergency shelter and household supplies, enabling the beginning of their recovery. His service is an inspiration to all of us at ShelterBox.”

ShelterBox provides humanitarian aid in the form of family-sized tents and essential tools to start repairing and rebuilding homes. The organization’s kits and boxes are tailored to each response, frequently items such as cooking sets, solar lights, blankets, water filters, and activity sets for children.

ShelterBox has deployed to disasters like the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, and it launched its largest response to date in the Philippines after Typhoon Rai last December.

It is currently undertaking a major response to the crisis in Ukraine, working around the clock to set up programs for refugees as well as those displaced within Ukraine. Those responses will include sending thousands of mattresses to “collective centers” like schools, churches, and sports arenas, as well as thermal blankets, hygiene kits, solar lights and water carriers. It has responded in Ukraine twice previously, in 2003 and 2008, and has experience in protracted conflict zones, including 10 years of work in Syria.

Kerri and Parker are available for interviews, please contact Jeremy Jacobs to arrange one.
