The women we meet and work with inspire us everyday.
At ShelterBox, we universally support women as we strive to think, act and be gender inclusive. Our disaster relief work is instrumental in transforming women’s lives.
Meet some of the remarkable women from around the globe who inspire us at ShelterBox.
This young woman is Hasina. At just 15-years-old, she’s already witnessed more violence than anyone should see in a lifetime.
Hasina is one of 655,000 Rohingya families who have been forced across the Myanmar border to escape sectarian violence. 65% of the community now living in Cox’s Bazar are women who have fled violence, and are now living in makeshift shelters where clean water and food is scarce.
When her village in Rakhine State, Myanmar was burned down, Hasina had to flee.
She now lives in a makeshift shelter made of plastic sheeting and bamboo in Cox’s Bazar refugee camp, in Bangladesh. There, she spends her days caring for her mother and aunt. Despite all of this, Hasina remains strong, proud and independent.
She is an inspirational woman.
