Whole Foods Market Supports ShelterBox USA for its Community Giving Day

Whole Foods Market stores of Louisiana have partnered with ShelterBox USA for the upcoming Community Giving Day this week to help provide shelter for earthquake survivors of Haiti.
On March 10th, Whole Foods Market stores in Louisiana will donate 5% of their net sales to ShelterBox USA to help provide life-saving aid for the people of Haiti.
“One of Whole Foods Market’s core values is to give back to communities in which we work and live,” said Kristina Bradford of Whole Foods, “and the quarterly 5% Day provides five percent of a store’s net sales to a non-profit organization. What’s special about this particular one is that all three Louisiana stores have joined together to support ShelterBox as we understand the tremendous importance of shelter after a catastrophe, especially after our experiences with Katrina.”
Each iconic green ShelterBox contains elements not provided by any other relief organization: a disaster relief tent for up to 10 people, stove, blankets and water filtration system, among other things. To date, more than 10,000 boxes have been delivered to Haiti by ShelterBox.
“Soon, the rainy season will be upon the people of Haiti and many Haitians’ only form of shelter is a cloth sheet,” states Veronica Brandon Miller, executive director, ShelterBox USA. “The generous donation from Whole Foods Market Community Giving Day will help provide shelter, warmth and dignity for many people of Haiti.”
Shoppers have been encouraged by there local stores to save the main shopping for the week to help support Haiti, said Bradford. “We are so impressed with what ShelterBox has accomplished and are honored to partner with them to support Haiti, “ said Bradford.
