International disaster relief charity, ShelterBox USA, is pleased to announce the election of Theresa Mohan, senior regional counsel of IBM, to its board of directors.

ShelterBox USA is an international disaster relief organization that provides shelter and lifesaving equipment to disaster survivors. Following earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, conflict or other disasters, ShelterBox Response Teams deliver boxes of aid, which contain a high-quality tent, water purification system, blankets, cook-stove and other tools to help a family rebuild their lives.

At IBM, Mohan is responsible for overseeing legal contracts and regional management, using her legal experience to maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws related to procurement and data security.

Mohan, a graduate of Fordham University School of Law, also plays a major role in IBM’s award-winning global pro bono program, which provides legal services to a wide variety of non-profit organizations. As part of the company’s commitment to service, IBM employees and other stakeholders have assisted ShelterBox worldwide, including in the USA, UK, Brazil and Canada.

“We are very pleased to have Theresa join our board of directors,” said Emily Sperling, ShelterBox USA president. “She is a talented executive and her business acumen and commitment to service will be very valuable to ShelterBox and our efforts to provide shelter, warmth and dignity to families affected by disasters around the world.”

Mohan joins 10 others on the ShelterBox USA board of directors.

Mohan began her career with IBM in 2002 as a counsel for the Business Process Outsourcing Group, the Human Resources Law Group and Corporate Litigator.
